Preparing for your Radiology ARCP

ARCPs are organised by Heather Chapman at the Deanery. You will be given a time and date for personal attendance. If you are unable to attend, inform Heather as soon as possible. It is usually possible to swop times and dates, but this must be done through Heather at the Deanery. Do not swap with your colleagues without checking with the Deanery first that the swop is acceptable.

RITA 

For pre-2007 SPRs, there should be a completed paper Education Supervisor’s Report and completed paper portfolio, which can be found on the RCR website under, in the SAC Documents Section.

Targets

The targets which you are expected to reach by the end of your year, in order to progress to the next year of your training, are specified on the following pages, and on the RCR website in the Curriculum 2010. Please ensure that there is clear evidence in your portfolios that you have reached these targets - otherwise you will fail the ARCP. The website specifies the levels of achievement which may lead to an ARCP 2 (and indeed for an ARCP 3).

The review will chart your progress to date and will identify any specific training needs for the future. The results of the review will be recorded on your ARCP Form, copies of which will be sent to you and the Royal College, with the original being retained at the Deanery in your training record file. In the unlikely event of adverse reports there is a right of appeal and the whole process is covered in more detail in “A Guide to Specialist Registrar Training” (The Orange Book) or “a Guide to Postgraduate Specialty Training in the Uk” (The Gold Guide) as appropriate.

As you are no doubt aware attendance at annual reviews is not optional and non attendance will only be acceptable in the case of pre-booked annual, study leave, sick leave or educational reasons i.e. examination, attendance at a course or presentation of a paper. Please contact the Deanery to confirm that you will be attending your RITA assessment.
