Quality Assurance for Severn School of Radiology

  • Delivery of the Training Programme
  • Annual Review of Competence Progression
  • Consultant Appointment Process

Annual Review of Competence Progression

  • e-portfolio based exercise
  • Requires submission of completed portfolio
  • Trainee need not be present
  • Panel of local trainers and external assessors
  • Process described in GMC Gold Guide, and on Severn Deanery websites

We normally try to see each StR for a half hour following the formal assessment. This session is essentially an appraisal, to review the previous year’s achievements, and make plans for the forthcoming year.

e-portfolio

This will contain all your Education Supervisors reports, agreed radiological and generic competencies, recorded DOPs and mini-IPX, Appraisals, observed teaching etc.

The e-portfolio must contain:-

  • Current CV
  • Copies of all audits, posters, publications
  • Teaching material prepared by yourself
  • Log Book
  • Certificates from Exams, courses etc
  • Copies of all previous ARCP certificates

Paper documents can be scanned in and saved into your e-portfolio.

There are minimum targets and standards from the Royal College of Radiologists specified in the 2010 curriculum, which are reproduced on the following pages of this menu. The main exception from the minimum standards is that we expect each StR to complete a minimum of twp mini-IPX and two DOPs every three months during modular training. In practice it is anticipated that most StRs will complete more than two of each.
